(RC-27L) Large Bath Chamber with Slice Supports

Product Summary

A large rectangular bath with a slice support and anchor increases slice viability during long term studies.

  • Designed for tissue slice studies
  • Permits solution flow both above and below a tissue slice
  • Provides good access for immersion optics and electrodes.
  • Can be used with either upright or inverted microscopes
  • Slice anchors available

The RC-27L is designed with tissue slice studies in mind. The tissue slice rests on a slice support and is held in place by a slice anchor (also known as a harp). This design allows the tissue slice to be perfused from both above and below, which can increase the sample.s viability. The slice support rests 0.5 mm above the coverslip floor and are included with the RC-27L.

Slice anchors are sold separately.

The slice support frame is manufactured in polycarbonate and uses fine Lycra threads to suspend the slice. Thread spacing on the slice support is 1 mm.

Slice anchors are available in polycarbonate or stainless steel, and thread spacing on anchors are 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 mm which allows for maximum access to the preparation. In addition to individual anchors, Warner offers polycarbonate or stainless steel slice anchor kitscontaining anchors in all available thread spacing.

While the weight of a metal harp is sufficient to secure a slice into place, the plastic harp relies on a close apposition between itself and the chamber side walls to maintain its position. This approach can reduce pressure on the slice from the harp.

The RC-27L requires a platform (PM-6D or PH-6D) and Series 20 stage adapter to complete the assembly for mounting onto a microscope.

Each chamber is supplied with an SS-3 slice support, 10 ft of PE-160 polyethylene tubing, and a package of #1 thickness glass coverslips (CS-24/50, 24 x 50 mm, pkg. of 50).
